ePOD (Electronic Proof of Delivery)

An ePOD replaces the signed paper LR with a structured digital capture: the receiver signs on the driver's phone, the app records a timestamp and GPS coordinates, and photographs of the unloaded goods are attached. The record syncs to the transporter's system as soon as the device has signal.

The commercial case is straightforward. Where paper PODs take one to two weeks to reach the billing desk, an ePOD arrives the same hour, so the invoice can be raised the same day. For a fleet running a large receivables book, compressing that lag is one of the largest single working-capital improvements available.

The operational requirement that trips up most implementations is offline capability. Consignee gates and industrial areas frequently have no usable data connection, so the app must capture and queue everything locally and sync later. An ePOD that requires connectivity at the point of delivery will not be used.
